Thank you for this! Erich was a better conductor than his otherwise more famous son, Carlos, who developed a cult following thanks largely to extramusical reasons (mainly his reputation, cultivated by the man himself, as an "international man of mystery"). I own every recording Erich K. ever made for Decca so I must observe that this cannot truly be the "complete Decca recordings" as Kleiber recorded two Beethoven 6ths for them and the track listing shows only one. This is obviously not your fault though, Thang, and thank you as ever for your ever-enduring generosity!
ReplyDeleteNever mind, just downloaded and checked - both performances of the Beethoven 6th are there! To those of you who might not know Erich Kleiber well, cannot recommend this set enough.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this. Might the Decca Eduard van Beinum box be next? (Just guessing, not requesting)
