Michel Corboz - Complete Erato Recordings - Baroque & Renaissance Eras - Box Set 74CDs

Label : Erato
Format : Flac track

It is not enough that there is a singing voice. There has to be imagination, musical movement, a sense of rhythm, a desire to communicate with your voice,” is how conductor Michel Corboz described his fascination with vocal music. The Erato label now honors the conductor, who died last year, with two extensive CD box sets. The first edition, now being released, is dedicated to Michel Corbozʼ groundbreaking recordings in the field of Renaissance and Baroque music on 74 CDs. The second edition is scheduled for 2023 and will span the Viennese Classical period to contemporary music For his first recording in over forty years of collaboration with the Erato label, Michel Corboz chose Claudio Monteverdi’s Mass for four voices a cappella in 1964. In doing so, he combined two elements that also determined his further artistic career: as a pioneer of early music, Corboz was, on the one hand, a passionate advocate of the works of Monteverdi, who was little known at the time, and his fellow composers Carissimi, Delalande and Charpentier. On the other hand, Michel Corbozʼ work was inspired by the expressive power of the human voice. As founder of the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne, highly praised for its balance and precision, the Swiss conductor devoted much of his recordings to vocal works, a cappella or accompanied by ensembles such as the Gulbenkian Orchestra and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. About a quarter of Corbozʼ work recordings now appear on CD for the first time and have been edited for HD quality.
