The universe seems split on whether humans can detect the difference between 16-bit and 24-bit audio. A 16-bit 44.1 CD has a frequency range of 20 Hz to 22.05 kHz, which fully covers the normal human hearing threshold of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Apart from taking up considerable space, what am I going to do with 192 kHz? I compared Thang's recent releases of the Haydn-Dorati Symphonies in both standard and HD audio on rather high-end equipment. Perhaps the sound had a little more breathing room, but the difference, if there was any, was perhaps in my own imagination. Thoughts?
