With the refined sound he got from his musicians, Ormandy was a great Debussy conductor, sadly neglected as his French contemporaries (Monteux, Paray, Munch) were preferred by the big companies in this repertoire. To my ears the best mid-century Debussy recordings are the ones by Toscanini and Debussy.
