ReplyDeleteFamous guys at the piano in this case. However, people tend to forget that Heifetz played for more than 2 decades with an unknown pianist to many of us: Brooks Smith. A superlative instrumentalist of whom we have little or nothing on record by him as a solo pianist. I managed to hear his true dimension when I heard a recital with Heifetz from a tour in 1955 to South America. The recital was in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is there that you can gauge the enormity of this musician "per se". Just a thought for you when you see his name. The RCA Heifetz mastering of those recordings was pretty awful. Thank GOD we now have these Naxos remasters by either Ward Marston or Obert-Thorn. A blessing. Thank you for this share!
