Thank you dear Thang Nguyen! This recording was taken from a concert at the SWR festival on April 28, 1978, in the concert hall of Schwetzingen Castle. During this period, Gerhard Schultz replaced Klaus Metzl as second violinist and fully integrated into the band. For almost four decades, from 1970 to 2008, Alban Berg's Viennese Quartet was one of the most successful string quartets in the world. Since their first recordings in 1974, the ensemble has often found itself in the spotlight, receiving rave reviews and winning numerous awards. The reason for their worldwide success was both their outstanding virtuosity and their unerring ability to play live with the same precision and accuracy as a studio recording.
